Faith Hamilton

Faith started her yoga journey in Houston in 2001 – she was a Personal Trainer and Step Aerobics Instructor at the time, and needed something that would help to lengthen the body’s muscles, and release the shoulders, hips, and hamstrings.  Faith found what she was looking for in Hatha Yoga.  She loved the benefits that she received from the practice of yoga and found it to be very beneficial in her training.

After many years of resistance training, Crossfit, Les Mills: BodyAttack, BodyCombat, BodyPump, Shaun T’s Insanity, and Tony Horton’s P90X workouts, Faith herniated her cervical and lumbar discsas well as injuring her knees, hips, and shoulders.  After several visits to the doctor, Faith was told that I had severe carpal tunnel syndrome.  It became very painful to continue the rigorous training that she had been practicing over many years.

Faith began to research the best types of exercises to replace in her regimen.  In 2010, while doing P90X, I discovered Vinyasa and Ashtanga style yoga.  She found it to be the best choice to continue to physically challenge her body, as well as increase her strength, balance, and flexibility.  She also added TRX to her regimen because, it also proved to be an excellent way to develop these qualities without too much jarring on the body.

In 2013, after much coaxing her yoga mentors: Kay Westcott whom I’d been practicing with since 2006 and meeting Billie Gollnick (Kay’s 89yr. old mentor, practicing since the 1940s), Faith decided to widen her horizon.   She took the Advanced Yoga Studies course with Kay Westcott in 2014 and began using yoga therapy to address her own physical limitations and found it to be a phenomenal substitution for medicine and surgery.  It was not in her awareness at the time that venturing into advanced yoga studies and practice would have completely changed her life in such an incredible way— spiritually, emotionally, and physically, just to name a few!

After completing the course, Faith began guiding a small group of women nurses, battling breast cancer.  It became apparent to Faith that this healing art was invaluable to all beings in our society for many different reasons.

In 2014, Faith became nationally certified with Lex Gillan in 2014.  Since becoming a Personal Trainer/Aerobics Instructor in 1990, and a Fitness Manager in 2001, she feels that it is fun to change your point-of-view on exercise and visualize moving the body in different ways to receive the optimal results that you desired.

Faith enjoys working with all ages and fitness levels from kids to seniors to athletes.  She looks forward to sharing the love for Yoga asana practice and fitness, finding ways to be the best person she can be--being more relaxed, happier, healthier, and better than before!!!  Namaste!!!
