Our Family Yoga classes provide fun, quality yoga instruction for the entire family, from toddler (ages 4 and up), children, tween, parents, all the way to the great-grandparents. Joann Steber teaches an enjoyable blend of yoga using props, and so much more!
What to Expect from a Family Yoga Class
Many of the poses may be familiar to some of our parents that already may be yogis (all new practitioners welcome!) - however, a Family Yoga class is structured differently than a regular hatha or flow class. We often incorporate games, stories, and sometimes songs. There’s more emphasis on social interaction and bonding.
Joann will explore with your family various types of activities that include props and more. Classes often revolve around a theme and some even incorporate story telling or books. Possibilities include the following themes:
- Metaphysical: with an emphasis on kindness, honesty, courage, respect, discipline, generosity
- Natural state of being – our world: including change of seasons, growth, change, maybe even an exploration ot the the natural elements: water, earth, wind fire
- Life events and places – holidays, travel, jungle/safari (poses to emulate animals), and all-around adventure
Joann is not only a yoga instructor, but also busy mom of four that LOVES to explore all facets of yoga development and growth. She began working with her children in the practice even before developing a practice of her own – and subsequently earned her teaching certification. Joann loves to share the power and connection that yoga brings to individuals and families. Joann is a firm believer in the bonding experience that yoga brings to families – especially her own!
We invite you to come have fun and let loose, develop strong minds and bodies with a positive family atmosphere exploring poses, breathing techniques, and maybe sharing stories with one another.
