YIN YOGA (No Heat)
A passive, yet powerful practice Yin Yoga involves variations of seated and supine poses classically held for 3- to 5-minutes, accessing deeper layers of fascia. What makes Yin unique is that you are asked to relax in the posture, soften the muscle and move closer to the bone. Yin poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. Practice is designed to help you sit longer, and more easily, in meditation by stretching connective tissue around the joints (primarily the knees, pelvis, sacrum, and spine).
A Yin practice increases circulation in the joints, thus improving flexibility – this make it instrumental for athletes. This class is the perfect complement to a high-intensity workout regimen.
